So maybe I missed it but was that the first time they were coming to the new airport? Was the runway in a different direction than the old one or anything like that? Terrible for all those lives lost. Was everybody on that plane Nepali citizens?

Sorry if it was unclear. It was not the crew's first flight there, but it may have been the pilot flying's first time at the controls into the airport--that was not clear from the record. The old airport was located on the other side of the river where the plane crashed (you can see it in the Maps image in the article). Those runways ran at a much different angle to the new airport runways (04/22 in the old--12/30 in the new). Finally, the passengers were 53 Nepali, 5 Indian, 4 Russian, and a few other nationalities.
